NASA plans for the plane of the future

January 14th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Hardware

Three different teams from Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, have been assigned by NASA to come up with the design for the “perfect” plane of the future. The deadline set is the year 2025. The “perfect” plane should be silent, fuel efficient, cruise over 7000 miles with a load of 50,000 to 100,000 pounds, and can travel at 85% of the speed of sound.

All three companies came up with distinctive and logical designs. Next step? Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Boeing, will need to simulate and test their designs and prove why they would like to be the winner.
