This is the South Pole

January 14th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Science

What you see above isn’t a set from an upcoming movie, nor is it a location on the moon. It is on Earth, and in the South Pole. The  10-meter telescope called BICEP (Background Imaging of Cosmic Extragalactic Polarization) keeps on collecting data on black matter and cosmic microwave background radiation.

The red lights are used to minimize light pollution. Looks pretty cool indeed!
