This tiny creature that looks like a humming bird is actually a nano air vehicle, capable of flying around while also capturing images of its whereabouts. The Nano Hummingbird not only resembles but is capable of flapping its wings just like the bird showcasing an absolute wonderful biological mimicry.
It can not only hover around guided by a controller but withstand wind gusts [5miles/hr.] on the sides, demonstrate a continuous hover endurance of eight minutes with no external power source, and even make a 360° lateral flip while in flight. Watch it in action in the video.
The unmanned aircraft capable of engaging in indoor and outdoor operations has been developed by AeroVironment for DARPA.
