April 15th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Hardware, Software

Care to own a robot that looks similar to a giant spider and goes ‘clippety-clop’ with its six legs? Have a look at the hexapod KMR-M6 by Kondo Robot of Japan, which just does that.

With two servos for each leg, one governing the horizontal movement and other the vertical, it has been designed to travel difficult terrain with stable foothold while responding to obstacles by waving a leg. The low cost robot priced at around $880 is primarily aimed at hobbyists, researchers and educators to enjoy the mechanism and even manipulate it with their innovative skills. That is why in addition to the robot kit individual parts will be provided for assemblage by the users, to design as they wish to.

Shipments of this product start early May.
