Natural Energy Park encourages children about science and energy
Natural Energy Park is not a toy but a well thought playground area for children that enables them to understand some basic principles of science and energy through interaction and possible outcomes. The model created by You Song Young, Jin Soo Yeon, Ahn Ho Sang, Lee Sung Jae from Hyundai Engineering and Construction encapsulates a number of key elements which makes study and play both a part of it.
The complex structure includes interesting details like a Benjamin Franklin’s kite, a solar panel, bicycle, sea-saw, pin hole camera, videophone periscope and a pedal powered radio.
While a spinning wheel attached to a generator would demonstrate the production of electricity [when the wheel is turned] and its subsequent flow as LEDs light up on the kite string; a pedal powered radio would exhibit the conversion of kinetic to electrical to sound energy as the children ‘bike’ to produce sound from the radio. Other examples include a movable solar panel responsible for running a motor showing how solar energy is harnessed to produce electricity. Apart from the features mentioned above, an aeroplane would also be a part of the park which would fly on account of magnetic levitation. Levers to turn it right or left would let the children simulate flying.
This idea has won theĀ red dot: best of the best award.
