The visually tantalizing effect comes into play when the bottles with various shades are lit with the 40 watt frosted tubular incandescent showcase bulbs.“Occasionally the filament of the bulb flutters subtly, much like the fluttering of a butterfly about to leave the chrysalis, thus the name.”
