World’s oldest functioning light bulb completes 110 years!
Did you ever imagine that light bulbs could outlive humans? Have a look at this famous bulb which according to the Guinness World Record is the oldest working bulb in the world. Located in a fire station in Livermore, California, it just completed its 110 years on 18th June.
The 60 watt bulb donated to the fire station has been working since 1901 with accounts of certain malfunctions in its long run. Although it might look like an ordinary bulb it has been learned that much care and money were involved in the manufacturing process of this special bulb as compared to the others in those days.
It was designed by Adolphe Chaillet who interestingly is known to have competed with Thomas Edison in a challenge to come up with the most efficient light bulb.
