No kidding! Kranium is a cardboard helmet with 4 times the strength

June 24th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Design, Science

What it would be like if helmets were built of cardboard? Although it sounds lame and foolish Anirudha Surabhi‘s Kranium helmet has surprising tales to tell. The special built of the cardboard Kranium when tested was found to withstand 4 times greater force than the regular helmets with polystyrene inner liner. It also passed the British Standard (EN 1078) test with flying colors after 5 consecutive smashing attempts were performed on it. Cardboard being the choice, it stands for an eco-friendly pick too.

The ‘plus points’ list doesn’t end there for each helmet also has the capability to be customized according to the wearer’s  respective size to make it a better fit. In case of situations like rainfall or accidental liquid spilt Kranium has its way again with a waterproof acrylic compound acting as the protective layer. With so many positivities on its side, we expect to see them at the stores soon enough.
