The puzzling furniture piece

August 8th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Design

Interested in puzzles? Then you might like to have this…as a room decor unit. Undoubtedly the beauty of the structure is alluring with its cones and curves but it serves a purpose as well. Honestly we couldn’t guess but can you?

The dramatic wooden sculpture “produced by CNC-woodturning” creates an optical illusion for the onlooker making it difficult to determine that it can at all house any space but unexpectedly it does.

The intriguing piece of art actually is a cherry wood storage box [picture below] with a clever cover to puzzle one and all. “The case is diagonally symmetrical, so the storage section can be covered with the lid rotated 180 degrees.”  This has been designed by Laszlo Tompa and is called the Cube Illusion Lidded Case.
