China unveils 500 km/hr high-speed train, proves its super power status yet again
Chinese train manufacturer CSR Corp Ltd. recently unveiled a 500 km/hr (approx. 310 mph) high-speed test train. It has six cars and has a maximum tractive power of 22,800 kilowatts!
This “test train” is part of China’s $1 trillion (that’s $1,000,000,000,000 !) railway infrastructure budget, with which the country is planning to build “13,000 km (8,078 miles) of high-speed rail network by 2012, and about 20,000 km (12,427 miles) by 2020.” If completed, China (by far) will have the best high-speed railway network on this planet. Are we still having doubts about China being the next super power?
