Stork Nest Farm in Czech Republic includes a striking riding arena inspired by a stork’s nest

That’s a huge nest for sure but you don’t need to watch out for gigantic birds to swoop in! This riding arena imitating a nest is a part of the Stork Nest Farm in Czech Republic and was built as a part of a farmstead’s renovation project.

The idea for this unique themed enclosure was inspired by a stork’s nest. Why? The farm used to have a distillery with a chimney on which storks used to build their nests. With time as the purpose of the farm declined, the structures were eventually abandoned only to play host to the storks which kept on living on site. Thus the architects and people involved in the project felt to have the unique structure in place to symbolize the storks’ loyalty and liking for the place.

The circular stork nest building in addition to serving as a riding arena suffices as a space for having social or official events. “At the top of the building there is a central sky-light with a diameter of 8 meters. It serves for intensive ventilation of the internal space by natural air flow.” Located at Olbramovice, Czech Republic, the amazing architectural venture was completed in 2010.
