Chikuno Cube + House purifies home air naturally

June 12th, 2012 | No Comments | Posted in Design, Science

Does it look like a wooden building block toy for children? Anyone would believe it to be so. Surprisingly, its simplistic look and nature disguises the potential it has and that’s what makes it so special and lovable.

The mere mention of air filters or purifiers fills our thoughts with button laden gadgetry. However Chikuno Cube + House [i.e, the "toy" looking thing] presents an altogether unconventional appearance comprising of a wooden base on which a honeycomb cube of bamboo charcoal rests.

This bamboo block which is a chunk of aerated activated carbon helps in cleaning the air off pollutants. We know about applications of charcoal in water filters and this works similarly too. The icing on the cake is the product uses no electricity or chemicals to do so! Splendid, isn’t it?

The little handy object comes from Satoshi Umeno from Japan.
