The sound of Ice Musical Instruments!

July 7th, 2012 | No Comments | Posted in Life

You might have come across a variety of musical instruments but did you know that there is a separate world of Ice Instruments as well that get carved from glaciers and are used in concerts too?

Although it may sound unbelievable but they do exist as can be seen in the pictures provided. Terje Isungset, a percussionist by profession from Norway, is the name that you have to associate with these cool and delicate instruments as he not only makes them a part of his musical compositions but structures them on his own from glacier pieces which according to the musician involves much patience and diligence. Although his expertise revolves around percussion instruments he is said to have hand-crafted a guitar, a harp, a trumpet and a fiddle, all from ice.

The musician states that with ice made instruments nothing is predictable as all depends on the nature of ice, the length of the concert and weather of the day. As ice instruments constantly change in shape so does the sound and the effect it produces. “With ice, there is no exact time for anything, nature decides everything,” said Isungset.

Well then how about checking out the instruments in action now? We have picked up some videos to let you experience the mesmerizing Ice Music, which you can find below.
