Apple may feature finger-print sensor technology in iPhone 5

Apple fingerprint patent

Last year Apple acquired a security company called Authentec for $356million. And since then there have been widespread rumors about Apple’s interest in finger-print sensor technology. Now, there are reports that indicate the iPhone 5 will most likely feature a finger-print sensor (at least based on the publication above from the US Patent and Trademark Office).

The patent states that there will be a fingerprint sensor embedded into the bezel of a device, as well as it also mentions the size, about which it says “approximately the width of an average user’s fingertip, but only several pixels tall, typically between 1 and 8 pixels, and possibly as many as 16 pixels tall“.
