This little owl is called Ulo. It has been designed to be a proactive entity, primarily monitoring activities in your home when required. What makes it so endearing is its ability to communicate using different eye expressions, as if it were a real bird. Watch the video and you will see how it is able to bond with the user instantly!
The interactive device has an alert mode that activates when the owl is tapped twice on its head. Whenever the smartphone connected to Ulo leaves the wifi network, any movement inside the home is captured as an animated gif to be sent through email. If Ulo is active at all times, it needs to be charged every two days. However in alert mode, it can function for about a week without recharging. The usb device can be used also for taking photos and streaming videos and is kept in position with the help of a neodymium magnet.
