Sony makes Chrome the default browser for VAIOs

Google Chrome browser receives yet another promotion. After recently reported deals between Sony and Google, the Japanese electronics giant is making Chrome the default browser in all its VAIO laptops. This is probably one of the biggest achievements for Chrome which is yet to establish itself as a competitor for Firefox or IE. Whether you still would like to install Firefox the moment you start working on your next VAIO is a different issue though.

More Chrome OS screenshots surface

Few more screenshots of the upcoming PC operating system from Google shows up again. A lot of people are betting on Chrome OS which is actually targeted to netbooks. TechCrunch reports the following screenshots. One thing is noticeably different from other desktop OS is the size of the application icons…may be because the OS will support touch functionality or may be just because its a netbook thing.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt leaves Apple’s board

In a recent battle of interest related to Google Voice and Apple iPhone, the response from Google CEO was almost inevitable. Eric Schmidt has just left the Apple board. There have been several core areas of Apple where Google is putting its feet, thus making Steve Jobs a little uncomfortable. These areas include Google’s launch of Android OS and the recent announcement of the future Chrome OS.

Google Chrome for Mac, finally in the horizon

Good new for the Apple fanboys. Google has always promised about Chrome running on the Mac, looks like it’s finally happening. This screenshot you see comes from the Chromium Development Google Group and is a solid evidence. Currently the browser is still very much in the development stage and there are no working build available at this time.

Google Chrome is now official, no longer in beta

Finally Google launches the official version of Chrome. It is no longer in beta anymore. With GMail still in beta even after 4.5 years, most people never expect Google to launch any official versions of their products. But they are wrong.

Finally, Google has launched the GMail gadget for Google desktop for Windows, after countless requests from the users. Although the gadget is not full featured like the original GMail, it does have the basics such as reading, searching, and sending messages, something most everyday users would be happy with.

Even Google gets hit by the recession

The internet king Google seemed to be invincible a few days back. It seems it is no longer that. Google had already cut off on the highly publicized employee friendly food programs, by getting rid of dinner for employees and removing the “evening tea trolley”. Now it gets worse.
