Have a look at this extremely delicate structure that is miraculously standing on its own. This marvelous architecture which represents the Venetian Macau [ " the China-ruled city's version of Las Vegas' neon alley"], is actually an assembly of free standing cards made possible by the American architect Bryan Berg. It took him 44 days to create this model with 218,792 cards which is on display at The Venetian Macau itself.

This huge feat not only shows the immense patience of the builder but marks this card installation as the largest house of cards [or rather it should be mentioned as building of cards!] which has made its way to none other than the Guinness World Records, and that too by excelling his own record.

Sony Creative Entertainment revealed the new motion controller for the PlayStation 3 at the 2010 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. It is called the PlayStation Move. Although the controller will be available separately for sale, Sony will also provide an optional bundle pack consisting of the PlayStation eye camera, Move controller and any relevant game. The device is similar to the Wii Nunchuk, but black in color and has a colored sphere at the top.

This colored sphere is the one that assists the eye camera to detect change of movement. Along with that the sub-controller which has direction buttons will also be paired with the Move. This sub-controller will mainly be used for “shooting” purposes for games that require it. It is expected that atleast 20 game titles will be available by the end of 2010 that will take full advantage of the PlayStation Move.

Google has opened the gates for its new online store, the Apps Marketplace. This new list of “Software-as-a-Service” applications created a new area of revenue generation for the company, which used to earn wholly from search-based advertisements. The store include services like CRM, ERP, fax and various others that integrate with Google’s cloud computing platform.

The Apps marketplace charges $100 to developers who would like to add apps to the store. A 20% service fee is also charged for all online purchases. It is a small start with a limited availability of services, but for companies which are looking forward to use Google enterprise apps, may be interested. “Every day, thousands of businesses choose the cloud. More than 2 million businesses have adopted Google Apps over the last three years, eliminating the hassles associated with purchasing, installing and maintaining hardware and software themselves.”

This is a precautionary wrist band that has been conceptualized for the safety of swimmers at beaches. So what does it do? In an emergency situation the person has to push a switch on the band to release a vibrant red colored balloon which gets inflated by compressed helium gas. Simultaneously the balloon rises to make it easier for life guards at crowded beaches to spot the person and take necessary action.

The Cognitive Balloon concept lets anyone enjoy swimming with only a minimalistic wristband to wear. Min Ji Hong and Kim Dong Eon are the designers for the product.

It is not a calculator but a calculator look-alike case. From this picture it may be a little difficult to figure that out though; only the stitch on the border gives it away. The designer mentions that ” a full color image is printed on front and back and bonded to materials creating a vinyl like exterior” which makes this case a perfect stealth cover for your expensive smart phone, just like the bookbook for MacBook.

Each case is hand-crafted and fits most of “similar sized electronics and phones”. The Calculator Photo Realistic Gadget Case is priced at $20.00 and can be obtained from Coolbeans717’s shop at Etsy.

Previously we had seen faucets with digital display and controls making them a bit different from the conventional ones. This faucet designed by Yusuf Muhammed and Paul Thomas also includes a special feature making it a necessary tool for any kitchen. The base of the faucet consists of a mechanism that releases pressurized mist triggered by a sensor in case of a fire. The mist droplets turn into steam by extracting the heat from the fire, ultimately suppressing the room temperature from extreme 250′C to 50′C.

This design called the Automist can be integrated with any sink system. It has won the UK James Dyson Award in 2009. Have a look at the video below to see how the system works.
