Dell Streak to be on sale on AT&T for $299, starting August 13

Finally, after letting us know about the Streak’s price, Dell gives us the launch date. August 13th is the day. The much awaited Dell Streak will be available from Dell/AT&T on a 2-year contract, in case you want to save some money. In case you are not interested in a locked phone, the unlocked edition will cost you $549 a piece. The Streak features a massive 5-inch capacitive display and will be running Android 1.6 (which Dell promises to upgrade to Android 2.2, over-the-air). Powered by a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, Dell Streak is a combination of a solid IMT (Internet Media Tablet) and a cellphone.

Cook ‘n’ Roll concept kitchen

Let’s have a look at this concept unit which illustrates a compact format by packing in all the essential features of a kitchen. Structured into a table, the top part of it serves as an inductive heating unit which is made of flexible and strong silica Aero-gel. The table top can be slid to reveal an infrared oven, a storage unit and a sink. The sink sports a sensor controlled water flow system which gets initiated as soon as the top covering is moved. When closed, water automatically stops flowing.

New touchscreen vending machines in Japan

Touch screen vending machines have started surfacing only recently. And if you think they are cool, then let’s just say Tokyo already has something better. The new touch-based system called aCure, installed in the Shinagawa Station in Tokyo, is probably the inception of the next generation vending machines. Photo-realistic images of the beverage, a much improved user interface and a whole range of available beverages are just a few things included.

Shoes with mechanism of adjusting height of heels

High heels are fashionable and stylish but is better to tread with when you aren’t in a hurry or not opting for a long walk [you wouldn't want to strain your legs or sprain it]. That is why here’s a concept  from Jerusalem Rivera which allows the height of the footwear to be adjusted as and when required by the user. The idea makes use of a Retractable Heel which allows a high heeled shoe to be changed to a low heeled one with a push of a button.

China may build a $118 billion high speed railway network, train speeds to hit 1000 KPH

China plans to invest heavily in its high-speed railway network. The world’s most populous nation needs at least an additional 16000 km of rail tracks to meet her requirement. That’s not all. Apparently the current MagLev train’s 431 KPH (max) speed isn’t quite enough. So the plan is to make something even faster…a lot faster. Keeping the technology the same as in a Magnetic Levitation train, the next line of railways will travel as fast as 1000 KPH (620 MPH)!
