Seriously, who could have thought the fascinating landscapes were carved out of books? The amazing forms have literally kept us spellbound. It is surprising to see as to how the sculptures, although known to us as mere stacks of paper, effortlessly make a new realm unfold before us.
Check out yet another ‘upcycled’ work of Steve from BookEnd Designs that involves not one but a stack of books bound together. The books have been hollowed out to function as a safe to store your valuables.
Meet the Recycled Book Organizer! It has been constructed by folding the pages of a book in half for a fan like appearance so that it can securely hold mails, bills, notes, cards etc without any mess.
Wires make big mess around our electronics however the situation can’t be escaped from either. Lucy Norman from Lula Dot has this interesting solution of transforming books, that cannot be recycled, into marvelous chandeliers. “There is currently no infrastructure set up to recycle the paper from books because the paper is low grade and the glue on the spine must be removed.” So she upcycles the books into patterns and shapes which are hung around a ceiling light to create a chandelier called Light Reading. Each is priced at £440.00.
At a glance it might seem the books are toppling over but you needn’t worry for they will be safe on this curved shelf. It’s just a simple illusion that this shelf creates with its design. It not only holds books like the sound shelf but even adds to the wall decor of a room saving floor space.
