Terrafugia Transition, finally a ‘flying car’ that receives the FAA approval, yours for $194k

Don’t mistake this as just a small airplane. Well, yes it is a plane alright, but is also an automobile like any other. The Terrafugia Transition will soon go into full scale production if you wondering whether this is just a concept. It recently got the approval from Federal Aviation Administration of U.S. Department of Transportation.”The two-seater vehicle uses its front-wheel drive on roads at ordinary highway speeds. But once it arrives at an adequate take off spot, it can extend its wings, take off and glide through the sky at 115 mph.”

China surpasses US in overall Auto sales for the first-half of 2009

China has finally surpassed the US in auto sales (atleast) for the first half of 2009. Sales have been 36.5% higher than previous year for the same time period. Total sales in China was a whopping 6.1 million vehicles which is much higher than the 4.8 million in USA.

Toyota to develop Solar-powered Car

The world’s one of the most respected automobile company, Toyota, is secretly planning to build solar powered vehicles. The development although in its early stage, will take place in two phases.

In the first phase, it will manufacture cars which will be partially powered by solar-cells, and would require to be recharged by electricity generated from solar panels on the roofs of homes. In the next phase it will manufacture cars completely powered by solar cells fitted to the car.

World’s first Six-wheeled car – C6W

We have seen quite a few interesting cars this year. Here’s one more…a six-wheeled car ! Italian manufacturer Ferruccio Covini’s has now a radical six wheeler, the C6W. The company had plans for this from the early 70′s, but the concept became reality only recently.
