Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon Wireless has revealed that the company is closely working with Google to come up with a new tablet computer. So, will this be a “win-win” for both Google and Verizon again? Well…we have seen Android phones piling up in the Verizon network and they all have been quite successful. This collaboration to build the “iPad rival” will only strengthen the bond between these two companies.
Although it is way too early for the iPad’s first birthday, nevertheless a fan-boy wanted to make a birthday cake anyway…and that too a pretty good one. Either way, it can be a great gift for any Apple fan boy.
Today Apple announced that the iPad will soon be available in nine more countries, starting May 28. Pre-orders start as early as May 10 though. The selected countries are Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
The success of Apple’s iPad has already started showing its effect on netbook sales. As per Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty, netbook sales have slowed down as early as January when Apple originally announced the iPad. While there was a 641% year-over-year growth rate for netbooks last summer, this year things are completely different.
Today Apple officially announced that the company sold their 1 millionth iPad on Friday (30th April), even before the completion of the first full month. In just 28 days since the product’s introduction in April 3rd, the iPad sales reached this number. Also, 12 million iPad apps were downloaded from the App Store, while over 1.5 million eBooks from the iBookstore.
Gadget website iFixit takes the trouble of tearing down the new iPad 3G to its core. Overall, there seems to be five antennas inside and the only way to visually differentiate the 3G model with the Wi-Fi model, is by the black plastic RF window.
