Apple iPhone commands a 72% smartphone market share in Japan

In 2009 out of the total 2.3 million smartphones sold in Japan, 1.69 million units were iPhone. That’s a huge number and turns out to be 72% of the total. While competitors have lost the market share share miserable, iPhone sales have actually doubled when compared to the same period last year. The second in the list is Taiwan based HTC with a distant 11%, while the third is Toshiba with just 6.8%.

Adobe stops development on Flash Packager for iPhone, now focuses more on Android

After the recent disturbances between Apple and Adobe over the iPhone maker’s highly restricted licensing terms, Adobe has decided to stop any further development of the Flash to iPhone packager tool, which is a part of CS5. As per Adobe’s Product Manager Mike Chambers, Apple’s ban on cross-compilation in the iPhone 4.0 SDK is absolutely unacceptable. In contrast to that, he says Adobe is closely working with Google to bring Flash Player 10.1 and Adobe AIR 2.0 to Android-powered mobile phones, as well as across other platforms like Palm, Windows Phone 7 and RIM.

Split screen browser for your iPad, lets you get the best of both worlds

Did you ever find a situation where you are desperate to look at two different web pages, both at the same time? May be while you want to compare two texts? In your laptop/desktop this obviously isn’t an issue, but what about about your new iPad? A Portugese firm called ElasticFiction allows you to do that. The app called SplitBrowser literally allows you to do two different things at the same time. “This app offers you an ultimate web experience, allowing you to stream a video while checking out your emails; if you want to focus on the film, try the full screen mode.”

Apple iPhone OS 4.0 to include multi-tasking, app folders, game center and 100+ new features; SDK 4 beta already available for download

Finally, multi-tasking is coming to the iPhone OS (as predicted). The applications running simultaneously can be switched by using a task manager. Although the multi-tasking is limited to VoIP, audio and the GPS, this will still be good enough for most iPhone users. After all you can listen to Pandora while surfing the web! Unfortunately for iPhone (original) and iPhone 3G users, this feature will not be included. Only iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch (3rd gen.) and iPad users will enjoy the liberty of running multiple apps at the same time.

Secret specs of the new iPhone?

Ok, this may be all rumors, but we are hearing quite a bit of noise about the next version of iPhone. Apple will launch the new iPhone this summer and is also coming up with a CDMA edition for Verizon Wireless (to be launched later). It is also very likely that the new version will have HD support and may be called the iPhone HD or at least something similar.

Opera Mini for iPhone undergoing the ‘rigorous’ Apple Store approval process, Opera starts a counter to count every second

Opera Mini for the iPhone may be available for download for all iPhone/iPod Touch users. But that is assuming Apple approves the app, after the company’s rather notorious approval process. Opera wants us to all know, as to how long it takes for Apple to complete the process. Check out the counter here which literally says, “Time since Opera Mini was submitted:”.
