Japan to send two-legged robot to the moon by 2015

Ambitious as it may sound, as per YomiuriOnline, Japan is planning to send a two-legged robot (a biped) to the moon as early as 2015. Japan is widely known for robots of various types and has been tremendously successful in this area, so expecting something like this in the next 5 years may be possible. The project is estimated at $10.5 million (approx).

Apple iPhone commands a 72% smartphone market share in Japan

In 2009 out of the total 2.3 million smartphones sold in Japan, 1.69 million units were iPhone. That’s a huge number and turns out to be 72% of the total. While competitors have lost the market share share miserable, iPhone sales have actually doubled when compared to the same period last year. The second in the list is Taiwan based HTC with a distant 11%, while the third is Toshiba with just 6.8%.

HOTO FUDO near Mount Fuji, enjoy your food while being one with nature

It looks like an igloo or is it an igloo? Whatever we have known about igloos, is only through pictures and diagrams in our text books. The smooth and curvaceous structure above although looks like an igloo is actually a restaurant built recently in Yamanashi, Japan that has great views of none other than the Mount Fuji. This noodle restaurant is very unusual to look at and the design evidently seems to be inspired by natural elements like clouds and mountain. For its interior too there’s something special as well.

Japanese SuperCar Maniwa is a wooden marvel

Are Superheroes going green too? Well this super-duper car might be the answer! This hot SuperCar called the Maniwa is one of a kind, wooden hand-crafted vehicle that can move at a speed of around 80km/hr. Built by Japanese manufacturer Sada-Kenbi this vehicle has already been legalized in Japan to be used on the streets. A three passenger vehicle, Maniwa lets you step in through its gull wing doors and even would let you enjoy music with its entertainment system.

Virtual Finger Game, just for a change

It is from Japan and seems to be quite unusual. “Simply stick your finger in the hole and a virtual representation appears on the screen. Then you can use your virtual finger to play all kinds of cool mini games… from swinging a panda to having a karate fight with a tiny little man.
