Shelf, the solar panel that covers your car while reusing solar energy

Here’s a cool (ing!) solution for the car which stays in the parking lot for extended hours, under the heavy and scorching heat of the sun. Poor car, it isn’t lucky enough to tuck under a tree shade. So here’s an idea from Leon Zhu, who proposes to use a foldable film of solar cell that can actually cover up the car from top, giving it the shade it requires. Not only that, it also stores energy collected from the sun shining on the unfolded solar panel. Now that’s a double gain for the car!

Some Shine uses a convenient way to recharge gadgets using solar energy

We had seen before how the portable Sunny Flower was designed to be attached to window glass panes for absorbing solar energy and subsequently empowering the gadgets. Today what we have is kind of an enlarged version of the same. The arrangement consists of a folding solar panel which is unfolded and hung near the window with a battery attachment at the base. During the day the curtain while facing the sun absorbs the solar energy to get stored in the battery shown by an indicator.

Solar Forest uses photovoltaic leaves to store sunlight

You have probably heard about rainforests but Solar Forest just doesn’t sound anything familiar, right? It is actually a group of tree like structures with gigantic photovoltaic leaves that are able to collect solar energy. The Solar Forest not only acts as a store house of renewable energy but has also been planned to serve as a charging station for electric cars for utilization of the stored energy.To facilitate the process  the tree forms will be equipped with power outlets.

World’s largest Wind farm, the Horns Rev 2

With the varied complications in climatic changes and for a better environment, there have always been an eager approach towards the use of  renewable sources of energy. One such energy is the wind energy and what we see here is the world’s largest wind farm, capable of generating 209 megawatts of power which approximately is the annual electricity consumption of 200,000 homes.

Eco-friendly colorful 90% Bamboo Taxis introduced in Philippines

The colors remind us of parade floats but these are meant to be on the streets everyday. What you see are passenger vehicles which simply don’t look colorful and extraordinary but are made of  90% bamboo and run on coconut biodiesel. Introduced recently by Rustico Balderian, mayor of Tabontabon in Phillipines, the measure was taken so as to replace the pricey, fuel consuming, environment polluting, regular transportation with a more eco-friendly solution.
