Here’s a neat tip from designer Hongtao Zhou on how we can reuse a tree stump that sits lonely and neglected out in the woods or in public places. Rather than letting any tree stump be an eye sore he attaches a wooden axe sculpture to it.
The addition not only turns the structure into an admirable piece of art but also serves as a seat to relax with the axe serving as the back rest and the handle as the arm rest. If by any chance there’s a smaller stump near by [like in the picture], it could be used as a footstool as well.
This particular installation called the Two Stumps And An Axe Lounge Chair can be seen at the Vermont Studio Center.
